Never give up ─ the project of caring vulnerable children in Xiangshan District, Hsinchu city
The collaboration between the Hsinchu City Xiangshan District Community Care Station and Yuanpei University of Medical Technology has been truly inspiring! By providing tutoring, guidance, and care to underprivileged children aged 12 and below, who come from various disadvantaged backgrounds such as single-parent families, poverty, intergenerational caregiving, and new immigrants, this initiative has helped these children acquire continuous learning and development opportunities. Using cats and dogs as a medium, this project has executed a series of activities to create a child-friendly community that allows every child to demonstrate their potential and enhances the identification of these caregivers and community residents with the community. This overall program has achieved the following objectives: (1) raising awareness of child-friendly issues in the community; (2) giving children the opportunity to express their opinions fully; (3) allowing children to unleash their creativity; (4) providing underprivileged children with care and companionship; (5) fostering children's respect for life; and (6) giving underprivileged children a sense of belonging. The program aligns with the specific target of SDG Goal 4, ensuring that disadvantaged groups can receive equal access to education and vocational training at all levels. This initiative has demonstrated a true dedication to nurturing and empowering the future generations of our community, and we firmly believe that more organizations should follow suit in supporting and uplifting the underprivileged children in our society.
