    PT United Tractors Tbk

Waste Warrior Unite: Leading towards the implementation of Sustainable Practices and Waste Reduction
United Tractors Group has designated United Tractors (UT) as the primary company for its pilot program, which primarily focuses on the distribution of heavy equipment. UT, consisting of 20 branches, 32 site supports, 6 representative offices, and 54 support points, has selected its Head Office and 2 branches as the initial locations to implement the pilot project. The project centers around two specific activities: heavy equipment sales and after-sales services. In terms of heavy equipment sales, the operations are domestic, while after-sales services encompass two primary activities: the workshop, which concentrates on repair and maintenance, and the warehouse area dedicated to spare part storage and sales.

United Tractors Group has launched an environmentally focused sustainability strategy through a pilot project at United Tractors (UT), known as "Waste Warrior Unite". Waste Warrior Unite is a groundbreaking program spearheaded by United Tractors that aims to address the pressing global waste crisis and promote responsible consumption. It is committed to combating irresponsible waste consumption through a multifaceted approach. Waste Warrior Unite revolves around four pivotal pillars, each with a strong sense of ambition and purpose: fostering awareness and knowledge, optimizing waste processing technology, revolutionizing waste management in the production process, and empowering community-based waste management.

The first pillar, Fostering Awareness and Knowledge, brings the "Drop It" Program to the forefront, injecting campaigns with renewed vigor. It inspires employees and their families to embrace responsible waste practices by providing a digital reporting feature on a user's phone application. Additionally, an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Handbook on Sustainable Waste Consumption is introduced to empower individuals with a comprehensive guide to sustainable waste management. Next, UT also introduces In-House Bulkstore Services which brings forth a revolutionary concept, offering a packaging-free food merchant that challenges traditional consumption norms.

The second pillar, Optimizing Waste Processing Technology, demonstrates UT's unwavering commitment to responsible consumption by pioneering the revolution of waste processing technology. Waste Collection Facilities undergo transformative changes, implementing four segregated bins for streamlined domestic waste disposal and efficient recycling practices: food waste, paper, plastic, and others. Moreover, UT recognizes the importance of in-house waste management in reducing landfill waste through its Recycling Centre, signifying a notable shift in waste recycling initiatives by embracing innovative advancements for enhanced effectiveness.

The next pillar, Revolutionizing Waste Management in the Production Process, showcases UT's efforts to implement sustainable initiatives throughout the production process. Key programs are introduced in the workshop and warehouse activities. In the workshop, UT replaces environmentally-harmful products with eco-friendly alternatives such as substituting sawdust for absorber and cloth gloves for latex, thereby reducing the environmental impact and optimizing resource utilization. At the warehouse, UT replaces wooden pallets with more durable metallic mesh pallets, extending the product lifespan. Additionally, UT establishes GO-FURNISHED, an initiative that repurposes wooden pallets into furniture, boosting recycling rates.

Lastly, the Empowering Community-based Waste Management pillar highlights UT's recognition of the pivotal role communities play in waste management to promote responsible consumption. UT establishes the Recycle Academy as a community-focused initiative, where individuals actively participate in recycling biodegradable materials. The innovative S-Clay production, part of the Recycle Academy process, combines clay with recycled truck tire powder to create a unique and sustainable product. This comprehensive program also includes community partnerships and aims to optimize waste banks through community involvement. United Tractors empowers individuals to take ownership of their local environments and aims to initiate impactful change from the grassroots level.

Overall, these four pivotal pillars encompass four objectives: creating a Green Corporation primarily in the field of management, supporting government programs in reducing landfill waste and promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 12, reducing operational costs of waste management by implementing the 6R principles, processing solid waste by 43% in 2022 and 84% in 2030, and enhancing the active participation of employees and the community in waste management.

Regarding project development and scaling up, United Tractors capitalizes on potential opportunities to enhance program development and amplify its impact, with a focus on achieving sustainable consumption and production. Consumer demand, environmental awareness, escalating solid waste quantities, increasing trends in technology and innovation, and the adoption of circular economy principles have shaped UT's efforts to extend its impact. To achieve this, UT plans to deploy and expand the program's coverage to 20 branches, 32 site supports, 6 representative offices, and 54 support points, while also improving the program.

The improved program will categorize each pillar and be implemented and scaled up to the designated branches, site supports, representative offices, and support points. The details are as follows:

First Pillar, Fostering Awareness and Knowledge: UT aims to become a leader in environmental sustainability in Southeast Asia by 2030. Building upon the existing education pillar called SOBAT, which has fostered 1,673 schools, UT will co-create innovative sustainability curricula. This collaboration facilitates easy implementation and scalability, benefiting young learners. Additionally, UT is developing blueprint frameworks to guide awareness-building strategies and measurement. These efforts set a benchmark for companies, create a multiplier effect, and support UT's ambitious goal of becoming an industry frontrunner.

Second pillar, Optimizing Waste Processing Technology: In response to the increasing number of domestic waste produced, UT recognizes the opportunity to invest in waste-to-energy technology, such as biogas machines and pyrolysis methods, to increase waste recycling to 84% by 2030. This action aims to utilize waste processing products as electrical fuel for day-to-day activities.

Next pillar, Revolutionizing Waste Management in the Production Process: UT has made remarkable strides in waste management, including policy-making for green procurement and the implementation of cleaner production. This involves reducing oil waste through the adoption of advanced redox-dynamic oil recovery methods. This innovative program not only extends the lifetime of oil usage but also results in substantial annual savings on oil procurement, contributing to UT's commitment to sustainability and cost efficiency.

Lastly, Empowering Community-based Waste Management: UT embarks on an ambitious journey to revolutionize the concept of a circular economy by developing a cutting-edge digital platform. This innovative solution streamlines and expedites coordination between UT and waste banks, resulting in efficiency and effectiveness. Leveraging advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain, the platform facilitates seamless communication, optimizes resource allocation, and fosters collaboration for waste management initiatives.

In conclusion, UT aims to influence employees, communities, and the public to adopt sustainable consumption and production through the deployment of "Waste Warrior Unite" as an end-to-end waste solution. By addressing various aspects of waste management through its four pivotal pillars, UT strives to create a positive impact on the environment and promote responsible practices.
