Plain / Native / Forest / LOHAS-The Sustainable New Central Cross-Island Highway
This section of the road has implemented concrete measures to achieve the SDGs, such as using near-natural construction methods and reducing excessive man-made facilities to create a low-impact mountain forest. We use local green materials to reduce carbon emissions caused by transportation, and at night, we close the road to visitors to minimize human interference and provide wildlife with a safe and quiet environment to rest and reproduce. In road design, we prioritize wildlife-friendly features, such as creating buffer zones, escape facilities, and necessary signage to remind drivers to be mindful of animal activity and reduce roadkill.
We also work closely with the Yushan National Park, Forestry Bureau, and other units to promote ecological conservation, establish environmental interpretation sites, assist in ecological research, and hold educational activities to protect the biodiversity of the Tataka section and achieve the goal of harmonious coexistence between humans and the environment.
