Gods bless forever – Cross-domain integration to promote the Sustainable tourism of the salt culture
The Southwest Coast National Scenic Area(SWCNSA)is located at the southwestern coast of Taiwan and was the earliest developed land. Therefore, industries such as salt production, farming and fishing have flourished.
There are over 200 temples in the SWCNSA, and the nationally recognized second-grade historical site “Nankunshen Daitian Temple”, which worships Wangye, is an important landmark. It was also as one of the "Top 100 Religious Sites" in the plan proposed by the Ministry of the Interior in 2013.
In 2004, the SWCNSA combined the salt industry with the religious worship of Wangye to organize the "Kunshen Wangye's Salt for Peace Festival" to promote tourism and salt-industry culture. Through this festival, not only has it highlighted the importance of the local "Wangye worship," but it has also preserved the culture of the salt industry through cultural creativity and interdisciplinary cooperation among industries.
According to the statistics of the Tourism Bureau from 2010 to 2022, the visitors to the Nankunshen-Daitian Temple is with a fixed monthly average of over 700,000. In the two months before and after the Salt Festival, the tourist is 20-30% higher than usual.
